Message: My husband and I were sitting on Glenelg Beach, Adelaide Australia, Friday 24th March, 2006 at around 10:00 in the morning watching a Quantas 737 jet which had taken off from the Adelaide Airport.
It was heading in a westerly direction. We noticed that half way between the horizon and the jet there was (as we describe it) a nearly translucent sphere shaped object, and as the plane went out of sight this thing (?) moved slowly up at a 45 degree angle. It appeared to be around a third of the plane's size when we first noticed it. As it began to move in a southerly direction my husband got around 4 minutes of Hi8 video footage on our Samsung camcorder.
We are interested to know what it could be. It wasn't a plane, balloon or Blimp, maybe military? Defiantly not a satellite as the orbit would be too low, not to mention the change in direction. At times it looked silver metallic, other times virtually transparent, this shows on the video differently, but may be affected by being on full zoom. We would appreciate anyone's input into what it could be , or if anyone else has reported anything. I would be surprised if it wasn't seen by the plane we first noticed.
